Qualifications

• Teaching license with a special education endorsement.
• Master's degree in education preferred.
• At least three years of current documented successful teaching experience as a special education teacher.
• Clear understanding of federal and state regulations under IDEA.
• Skilled in applying VDOE and HCS policies to disability situations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Skilled in working with instructional staff, administrators, families and students with disabilities.
• Skilled in working with adult learners.
• Strong meeting and project facilitation skills.
• Strong conflict resolution and creative problem solving.
• Excellent teaming and collaboration skills.
• Demonstrates initiative and ability to complete projects on time.

Responsibilities

• Provides on site support and technical assistance to special education roster teachers/case managers and administrators.
• Articulates how special education policies apply to IEP development, data collection and progress reporting.
• Works with coordinators and administrators to support professional growth.
• Collaborates with school staff to support students with disabilities.
• Organizes and facilitates regular roster teacher/case manager meetings to review caseloads and progress.
• May serve as Division Representative in IEP related meetings.
• Attends Program Advisor trainings and IL meetings.
• Plans CLT training activities to promote effective case management practices.
• Prepares for IEP meetings, including facilitation, conflict resolution and follow-up tasks.
• Serves as liaison with the special education department and other groups.
• Maintains expertise in instructional/management practices for specialized programs.
• Demonstrates professional and ethical leadership.
