Special Education Process Coordinator

Reports to: Director of Special Services / Superintendent

Qualifications
  • Valid Missouri certification in one or more areas of Special Education
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience in special education
Other Requirements
  • Satisfactory background check clearance as required by Senior Administration
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and evaluation strategies for students with disabilities
  • Familiarity with special education laws, programming, federal programs, and compliance guidelines
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with students, staff, families, and community partners
Essential Functions
  • Process incoming student records and transfer documentation
  • Manage and complete all building-level referrals for special education services
  • Oversee and complete the assessment process for students in Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) through 8th grade
  • Coordinate and complete all required reevaluations
  • Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in consultation with special education staff
  • Administer assessments or coordinate/schedule assessments that require specific administration

Working Conditions & Environment
  • Frequently works in a school setting that may be noisy and fast-paced
  • Occasionally may be required to work outdoors for brief periods (e.g., assisting with student arrival/dismissal, recess supervision)
Evaluation & Employment
  • Performance will be evaluated annually by the Director of Special Services/Superintendent
  • Employment recommendation is made annually at the regular March Board of Education meeting
