Job summary

Pittsfield Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional (EES) to support classroom instruction at Egremont Elementary School in Pittsfield, MA. The role involves assisting teachers with the instructional program and monitoring student progress and behavior.

Qualifications

• Must be "Highly Qualified" as proscribed by NCLB (Associate's degree or passing Para Pro or Work Keys assessment).
• Experience working with elementary students who have special needs in an urban educational setting; experience working with students who require academic and social/emotional assistance; experience assisting the teacher with implementation of an IEP.
• Ability to reinforce positive behaviors; excellent behavior management and communication skills; ability to support teachers in implementing instruction; willing to be trained in de-escalation and restraint techniques provided by the district.
