Job summary

Algiers Charter is seeking an ESS Paraprofessional to support students with exceptional needs under the direction of an ESS Teacher and school administration. You will help implement IEPs, promote inclusion, and support students to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

The role emphasizes collaboration with teachers and staff, assisting with instructional activities, behavior support, and classroom routines.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities are essential.
• Experience working with children or students with disabilities is preferred.
• Knowledge of child development and instructional strategies is beneficial.
• Familiarity with behavior management and inclusive education practices is desired.

Responsibilities

• Assist ESS teachers with instructional activities, accommodations, and modifications.
• Support students individually or in small groups in academic, behavioral, and social-emotional skills.
• Monitor and assist during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, and recess.
• Reinforce classroom expectations and implement behavior intervention plans as directed.
• Help prepare instructional materials and organize resources.
• Provide support during assessments and testing accommodations.
• Assist students with personal care needs and mobility as required by IEPs.
• Promote student independence and inclusion in the general education environment.
• Supervise students to ensure safety at all times.
• Communicate progress and concerns to teachers and administrators.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow district guidelines about special education.
