Job summary

Albia Community School District is seeking a special education paraprofessional to assist lead teachers with classroom management and individualized support for students with special needs. You will help implement IEP goals, reinforce learning, and monitor progress.

In this role you will supervise students during non-instructional times, assist with personal care, collect data, and organize classroom materials while collaborating with teachers and families to support student success.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementing lesson plans, reinforce concepts with individuals or small groups, and adapt materials as directed by the teacher.
• Provide direct, one-on-one support to students with academic, social, and behavioral needs.
• Help with implementing and monitoring goals in students' IEPs.
• Support lead teacher in maintaining a safe and orderly classroom.
• Supervise students in classrooms, playgrounds, hallways, and during lunch or bus duty.
• Record and track student progress, attendance, and behavior for evaluations and IEP revisions.
• Assist students with personal needs such as toileting, dressing, and hygiene.
• Help with administrative duties like preparing materials, grading assignments, and maintaining student records.
• Communicate with the special education teacher, staff, and sometimes parents regarding student progress and needs.
• Implement positive behavior management strategies and provide support for students with emotional or behavioral concerns.
