Job summary

Hudsonville Public Schools seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students in need of accommodations and to help implement positive behavior supports. Under teacher direction, you will assist with instructional and social-emotional needs and contribute to data collection and confidentiality.

You will work closely with staff, parents, and administrators to promote student success, supporting district norms and classroom philosophy in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• At least two years of college coursework (60 semester hours), or an associates degree.
• Demonstrate ability to read and understand instructional materials.
• Ability to build effective working relationships with students, staff and school community.
• Three years of general administrative assistant work and/or training.
• Strong organizational skills and initiative.

Responsibilities

• Under teacher direction, provide instructional and social-emotional/behavior accommodations and interventions.
• Assist students with health, medical or physical needs (e.g., transferring, diapering, bathrooming).
• Assist teams with implementing positive behavior support plans or emergency intervention plans.
• Assist teams with data collection.
• Maintain confidentiality and support district/school/classroom norms.
• Engage professionally with parents, staff, and administrators to support student success.
• Other duties as assigned

Education

Two years of study at an institution of higher education (60 semester hours)

Associates degree

Demonstrate state academic assessment in reading, writing, and mathematics

Ability to read and understand instructional materials

Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and school community

Three years in general administrative assistant work and/or training

Highly effective organization skills and takes initiative
