Job summary

NSBSD Pedagogy is seeking Special Education Paraprofessionals to support Special Education Teachers in delivering free and appropriate public education to students with intensive needs.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with one of three criteria: an Associate’s degree or higher, 48 semester hours, or the Paraprofessional Assessment Test. Preference for Inupiaq-speaking and cultural experience.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience: A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Must meet one of three criteria: Associate’s Degree or higher, 48 semester hours, or PAT.
• Foreign degree transcript evaluation may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist intensive level multiple disability students during the school day.
• Assist assigned students in physical tasks and personal hygiene, including feeding and toileting.
• Assist teachers in instructional supportive services and small-group instruction.
• Tutor a student one-on-one.
• Assist in classroom management and supervise students on buses and in common areas.
• Prepare instructional materials and supplies for student use.
