Job summary

NSBSD is seeking a paraprofessional assistant to support teachers in creating a positive learning environment and to aid in the personal, social and intellectual development of students.

Responsibilities include tutoring, small-group instruction, classroom management support, and helping students with disabilities. Candidates should have a HS diploma or GED and may meet the alternative criteria listed. Preference for Inupiaq-speaking experience.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• One of: associate degree or higher; or two years (48 credits) of college; or PAT.
• Foreign degree requires transcript evaluation.
• English communication in speaking, reading and writing.
• Preference for Inupiaq-speaking and cultural experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional and support to teachers.
• Instruct small groups of students and tutor individually.
• Assist with classroom management and with students with disabilities.
• Support students with remedial work and monitor progress.
• Prepare instructional materials and supervise various areas in school.
