Job summary

NSBSD Pedagogy in Alaska seeks a paraprofessional to assist teachers in creating a positive learning environment and to support the personal, social, and intellectual development of students.

The role involves small-group instruction, tutoring, classroom management, and assisting children with disabilities during the school day. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, with preferred progress toward an associate degree. Bilingual or Inupiaq experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• If degree earned from a foreign university, obtain foreign transcript evaluation.
• Preference for Inupiaq-speaking and cultural experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional and support assistance to teachers.
• Instruct small groups of students.
• Tutor students individually.
• Assist with classroom management and with children with disabilities.
• Support intensive level multiple disability students during the school day.
• Assist with personal tasks and hygiene, including feeding and toileting.
• Prepare instructional materials and supplies for classroom use.
• Supervise students on buses and in the gym, hallways, and other locations.
• Report accidents or incidents immediately.
