Job summary

Madison Elementary School District is seeking a SPED Paraprofessional to provide instructional support to students with disabilities under the supervision of a special education teacher.

You will work one-to-one and in small groups, prepare materials, and monitor student activities across settings while following prescribed behavior plans and confidentiality. The position is a 9-month assignment with benefits as provided by the district.

Qualifications

• Must be able to support students with disabilities in instructional settings.
• Experience or ability to work one-to-one and in small groups.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional interaction with staff, students and parents.
• Good written and verbal communication in English, with accuracy in paperwork.
• Preferred experience working with children with disabilities.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with mobility tasks.
• Training in First Aid and CPR will be required or current, per district policy.
• Proficiency with basic word processing on MAC/PC platforms.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in implementing the special education program under supervision.
• Work with students one-to-one and in small groups as directed.
• Prepare instructional materials and adapt resources for lessons.
• Monitor student activities in classrooms, on playgrounds, and on buses.
• Follow discipline plans and communicate student needs to staff.
• Observe and record student behavior; report concerns to teachers.
• Use equipment such as computers, printers, and assistive tech as needed.
• Attend staff meetings, trainings, and school events when required.
• Understand safety protocols and SDS guidelines; perform other duties as assigned.
