Willard Public Schools seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional - Essential Skills for the 2026-2027 school year. The role supports supervising teachers, with emphasis on learning and behavior management, in a respectful, confidential school setting.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, meets MO requirements, and can lift 60 lbs. CPI certification may be completed on site; background checks are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Meets MO requirements: 60 college hours or pass paraprofessional exam.
• Excellent written, oral, organizational, time management and communication skills.
• Ability to work with students with disabilities.
• Team attitude.
• Ability to lift 60 lbs.
• CPI certification required or district offers on-site course.
• Must pass background check satisfactory to the Board of Education.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the organization environment to promote learning
• Assist in the management of individual or small group behavior
• Assist in the management of individual or small group learning
• Accept direction from supervisors (including supervising teacher)
• Willingness to assist students with disabilities with toileting skills, as needed
• Willingness to assist students with disabilities with eating, as needed
• Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of instructional methods and techniques of classroom control to be an effective instructional assistant
• Conducts themselves in a professional manner when dealing with students, immediate teacher/supervisor(s), and other faculty members
• Must complete in-service hours in accordance with the Missouri State Plan for Special Education. District will provide these hours.
• Understands and abides by confidentiality mandates
• Takes initiative in situations calling for leadership; as needed
