Job summary

Willard R-2 School District seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional - Essential Skills for the Willard North Elementary area. This hourly, non-certified position supports supervising teachers and the principal with students, including those with disabilities.

Involves CPI training and confidentiality requirements; 180-day term and potential on-site CPI opportunities. The role emphasizes organization, learning support, and a professional, collaborative approach in a school setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 60 college hours or passing the paraprofessional assessment per Missouri DOE requirements.
• Excellent written, oral, organizational, time management and communication skills.
• Ability to work with students with disabilities.
• Team attitude and collaboration.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
• Completion of CPI certification or on-site training offered by the district.
• Must pass a background check satisfactory to the Board of Education.

Responsibilities

• Assist in organizing the learning environment to promote classroom learning.
• Assist in managing behavior of individuals or small groups.
• Assist in managing learning for individuals or small groups.
• Take direction from supervisors (including supervising teacher).
• Assist students with disabilities with toileting needs, as required.
• Assist students with disabilities with eating, as required.
• Apply instructional methods and classroom management techniques effectively.
• Maintain professionalism with students and staff at all times.
• Complete in-service hours per Missouri State Plan; district will provide hours.
• Maintain confidentiality and take initiative when leadership is needed.
