Job summary

School District 27J (Inc) is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional for elementary students with mild/moderate disabilities at Southlawn Elementary. The role involves direct instruction, data collection, and supervision before/after school with a focus on safety and inclusion.

Starting wage is $20.89 per hour with a 9-month schedule (8.5 hours/day, Tue-Fri) and benefits eligibility. Experience with IEPs and CPI-based safety measures are advantageous.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read and interpret Behavior Plans and IEPs.
• Ability to collect data and write routine reports.
• Ability to present information to teachers and related services.
• Must be able to pass a post-offer physical and background check.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction and supervision for students with disabilities in general and special education settings.
• Modify instructional materials under teacher direction and assist with delivery of instruction.
• Identify and support peer relationships and natural supports.
• Follow behavior intervention plans and monitor safety during school activities.
• Maintain required forms and student records.
• Communicate observations and progress with teachers and therapists.
• Assist with minor clerical duties as needed and participate in trainings.
