Job summary

Poudre School District in Fort Collins, CO seeks a paraprofessional to assist general and special education teachers with students who have significant support needs. You will provide instructional and physical support, help with personal care, and support behavioral plans to ensure access to the general curriculum.

Role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 1 year of related experience, and CPI training within 3 months of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of related experience.
• Experience working with special needs students preferred.
• WorkKeys assessment demonstrating instructional competency where required.
• Criminal background check required for hire.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist general or special education teachers by providing instructional and physical support to students with significant support needs.
• Implement behavior intervention strategies and de-escalate crises to ensure safety.
• Monitor students across classrooms, hallways, and during transitions, enforcing safety procedures.
• Provide hygiene, feeding, mobility assistance, and collaboration with nursing staff for medical needs.
• Use assistive devices and alternative communication methods to support student learning.
• Maintain detailed records of behavior, interventions, and progress; input data for IEP meetings.
• Work with teachers and staff to implement IEP goals and crisis response strategies.
• Develop self-regulation and daily living skills; promote independence.
• Attend training and staff meetings to enhance job skills.
• Support safety protocols and participate in emergency responses as required.
