Job summary

Berryton Elementary School is seeking a Paraprofessional I to assist the instructor in creating a positive learning environment that supports the personal, social, and intellectual growth of students. You will collaborate closely with the district staff to implement lessons and reinforce classroom routines.

The role requires steady interaction with students, supervision under a licensed teacher, and a willingness to perform clerical tasks while maintaining student confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of operation of various office machines and equipment.
• Ability to use personal computer and software.
• Ability to observe and follow all school district policies at all times.
• Ability to react to change and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner, meeting deadlines as assigned.
• Ability to implement and follow all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
• Must verify good health by passing a physical examination, which includes TB and drug test as required.
• Other duties as assigned by building principal.
• Desire to continue career improvement by enhancing skills and job performance.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing the personal, social, and intellectual development of students.
• Create a positive learning environment and respond to individual educational needs of students.
• Prepare for classroom activities under the supervision of a licensed teacher.
• Assist students in schoolwork without giving answers or enabling reliance on adult help.
• Work with small groups to reinforce material introduced by the teacher.
• Assist students to become more independent and support those with special needs.
• Provide behavioral support in the classroom.
• Perform clerical duties as required and assist with non-instructional classroom duties.
