Job summary

Central Intermediate School in the United States is seeking a paraprofessional to support teachers with day-to-day classroom activities and student engagement. The role may involve one-on-one, small group, or classroom assistance during the school day.

You will help with setup, provide instructional support, and assist with behavior management and routine tasks to help students meet their learning objectives and stay on track with IEP goals.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current paraprofessional license (or PEL) with the ISBE.
• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
• Maintain certification for Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training as needed.
• Successful completion of fingerprint background checks (IL State Police and FBI).
• Ability to support students with IEPs and behavior plans.

Responsibilities

• Assists the instructor with classroom set-up and class preparations.
• Provides individual and/or small group instruction in all facets of the curriculum under the direction of the classroom teacher.
• Administers, scores, and records such achievement, diagnostic tests and other documentation as required.
• Assists with the student development of organizational and study skills.
• Implements and monitors behavior management per IEP.
• Provides support in unstructured settings for students.
• Guides and serves as a resource person to students in a general or special education setting.
• Maintains effective communication with school staff.
• Assists with supervision during drills, recess, and field trips.
• Assists students in library or media center.
