Job summary

New Story Schools in Harrisburg is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to assist teachers in helping students aged 5–21 with autism and behavioral challenges achieve academic, behavioral, and daily living goals.

You will provide direct support, help implement IEPs and Positive Behavior Support plans, and collect progress data in a structured, supportive classroom environment, contributing to each student’s growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• At least 3 months of experience supporting individuals with learning or behavioral disabilities.
• Knowledge of behavior management and classroom support strategies.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stay calm and consistent during challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Support students with academic, behavioral, and self-care goals.
• Implement IEPs and Positive Behavior Support Plans under teacher guidance.
• Assist students with transitions, activities, and personal care as needed.
• Collect and record behavioral and progress data.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
