Job summary

Gilbert Unified School District is seeking a Paraprofessional to assist in the instruction of special needs students under a certified teacher in regular and/or special education classrooms. Essential duties include conferring with teachers, supporting individual or small group instruction, implementing IEP-based behavioral plans, and monitoring students to ensure safety.

Requirements: high school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or 60 college credits or Para Pro; valid Arizona DPS IVP

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree or 60 college credits or Para Pro assessment.
• Must possess a valid Arizona DPS Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Responsibilities

• Confers with teachers and therapists regarding student needs and direction.
• Supports instructional activities for individuals or small groups per IEP goals.
• Implements behavioral plans designed by the IEP team.
• Monitors students for safety in school settings.
• Participates in data recording for the Direct Service Claiming (DSC) program.
• Performs daily data record keeping and clerical tasks.
• Responds to emergencies to resolve safety concerns.
• Adapts activities to include all students in classroom participation.
