Job summary

Gilbert Unified School District is seeking a Paraprofessional Specialist to support the instruction and supervision of students with severe/moderate disabilities under a certificated teacher. The role includes documenting progress, implementing instruction plans, and assisting with health care needs.

Responsibilities include adapting activities, assisting with daily care, collaborating with teachers and therapists, and collecting data for DSC compliance to support student learning goals.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Arizona DPS Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card prior to processing.
• ParaPro Assessment Test may be required as part of the Title I campus qualification.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities under teacher direction to help inclusive participation for all students.
• Assists students requiring daily care to enable learning and daily living skills.
• Confers with teachers and therapists to support student needs and learning goals.
• Supports instructional activities for individuals or small groups to meet IEP/district benchmarks.
• Implements behavioral plans designed by the IEP team.
• Provides instructional materials under supervision and monitors safety during school activities.
• Records data for Direct Service Claiming (DSC) and maintains daily progress notes.
• Performs related clerical tasks and responds to emergencies as needed.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree; 60 college credits; ParaPro Assessment
