Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools seeks a Paraprofessional Sp Ed - Aut - Mod/Seve to support instructional programs for special needs students. Location: Hooper Renwick; if you hold a Parapro Educator certificate, you may contribute to implementing IEP goals and supervising students in inclusive settings.

The role involves assisting teachers, supervising during non-instructional times, and attending IEP meetings to align supports with student plans.

Qualifications

• Parapro Educator certificate required.
• High school diploma or equivalent and Praxis Parapro Assessment or GACE Parapro Assessment required; 60 semester or 90 quarter hours PSC approved as alternative.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities under teacher direction to support IEP goals and objectives.
• Administer immediate first aid and medical assistance as needed.
• Administer tests, homework, and makeup work to support teachers.
• Assist medically fragile or physically disabled students with personal hygiene.
• Assist students with grooming, daily living skills, and mobility.
• Attend meetings and trainings, including IEP meetings and emergency procedures.
• Confer with teachers on student progress and IEP objectives.
• Implement behavioral plans under supervision of teachers.
• Maintain instructional materials and records for mandated requirements.
• Monitor students in classrooms, hallways, and during activities for safety.
• Perform record keeping and data collection to support teachers.
• Provide instruction in individual and group activities to reinforce objectives.
• Respond to emergencies to ensure student safety and well-being.
• Apply crisis intervention procedures as trained.
• Assist with monitoring duties (hallways, lunchroom, restrooms, bus duty) with appropriate conduct.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
