Job summary

Sylvania in Minnesota is seeking a Paraeducator Special Education for the 2026-27 school year. This full-time position covers 184 days and about 6.5 hours per day to support students with disabilities in various settings.

Duties include assisting instruction, managing behavior, recording progress, and helping with personal care tasks. Qualifications include high school diploma, PCA/ParaEducator/ParaPro exams, and the ability to lift 40 pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Personal Care Assistant certification completed within 30 days of start date.
• 60 credits or 90 quarter credits or associate degree or higher OR ParaEducator/ParaPro exam (documentation required).
• Good communication, interpersonal, and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work with technology and computers.
• Ability to cooperate with students and staff; supervise students; take direction; maintain regular attendance.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
• Ability to perform duties including toileting, feeding, self-care and data functions; handle challenging behaviors.
• Must be physically present in the building.

Responsibilities

• Assists in instruction of students with disabilities in various settings.
• Managing behavior (redirecting, calming or removing a disruptive student).
• Monitoring and recording student progress in academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, etc.
