Job summary

Sylvania in Battle Creek, MI is seeking a Program Aide Paraprofessional to support students with IEPs under the supervision of special education teachers and certified staff.

You will assist with academic activities, use classroom technology, reinforce rules, support accommodations, and help with testing and data collection. This full-time, on-site role offers up to 7 hours per day with paid time off.

Qualifications

• Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (60 semester hours) or possess an associate’s degree or higher.
• ETS Parapro Assessment with a minimum passing score of 460.
• Experience working with secondary students is preferred.
• Ability to support students with IEP accommodations under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Work with students on academic skills and with groups as directed by teachers.
• Assist with instruction, assignments, testing and assessments individually and in small groups.
• Reinforce school and classroom rules and assist with accommodations per IEPs.
• Engage in student data collection and participate in classes with mainstreamed students.
• Deescalate behavior and assist with non-violent crisis intervention when needed.
