Job summary

Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE) seeks a Para Educator Severe to support instruction for students with severe disabilities under supervision. The role involves assisting a certificated teacher, monitoring progress, and helping students develop self-help and social skills.

Minimum qualifications include high school graduation and 18+ years of age; experience with children or disabilities is required.

Qualifications

• SCOE Para Educator Severe Application requires at least 18 years of age.
• Education & Experience: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience in working with children or individuals with disabilities.
• Copy of SCOE Para Educator Proficiency Test certificate OR one of the following: SCOE ESSA/NCLB test certificate, CBEST, or transcripts showing 48 college units or AA Degree or higher.
• NOT required at time of application but required if offered employment: Department of Justice Fingerprint clearance, Tuberculosis Clearance, Physical/Drug Screen clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely handicapped students.
• Monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance.
• Assist students in developing various self-help, social and community skills.
