Job summary

Hayward Unified School District is seeking a Part‑time instructional aide to support severely handicapped and Special Education students. You will assist in instruction, help prepare materials, and provide essential health and mobility assistance on campus and during bus transport.

The role requires assisting with feeding, toileting, positioning, and supervising student activities, under supervision, with a focus on inclusive education and safety.

Qualifications

• Requires 48 semester units or an AA degree or passing NCLB qualifying exam.
• Experience working with severely handicapped or emotionally disturbed students preferred.
• Ability to assist with feeding, toileting, positioning and monitoring health conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instructing students individually or in small groups.
• Provide classroom support by setting up materials and displays.
• Help students understand assignments and follow classroom rules.
• Assist with health and safety, including lifting and moving students.
• Transport and supervise students on/off the bus and during activities.
