Job summary
Stockton Unified School District is seeking a dedicated One-on-One Special Education Assistant to support a severely handicapped student aged 3–22. You will work under a certificated teacher to provide instructional support, supervise routines, and help maintain a safe, nurturing learning environment.
The role involves assisting with daily activities, mobility, feeding, grooming, behavior management, and record-keeping.
Qualifications
- Education equivalent to completion of 12th grade and one year experience with handicapped students.
- Completion of college-level courses in special education or related field.
- Ability to supervise and assist students with personal and instructional needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist students to and from buses and classes.
- Teach independent mobility and self-care under supervision.
- Assist in development and implementation of individual education plans.
- Supervise and monitor student in academic and recreational activities.
- Tutor student to reinforce training and learning experiences.
- Assist in maintaining daily performance records.
- Operate learning equipment and assist with instructional materials.
- Support in feeding, toileting and personal grooming as needed.
