Job summary

Evergreen Public Schools - Heritage High School in Vancouver, WA is seeking a Special Education Paraeducator. The role supports elementary/secondary students with IEPs, under the supervision of the SPED teacher and building principal.

Eligible candidates will assist in instruction, data collection, and behavior management on a 6-hour day schedule (8:45 a.m.–3:15 p.m.) with 190 work days per year. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, plus one of several qualifying options

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must meet one or more: ParaPro score 455+ or associate degree or higher, or 72 quarter credits / 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher, or Paraeducator Apprenticeship program.
• New paraeducators must complete state required training offered through Evergreen School District.
• External applicants must include official transcripts (upon hire) to confirm education or ETS ParaPro Assessment results with application.

Responsibilities

• Provide special education services and supports to elementary and/or secondary students eligible for special education as directed by the teacher.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
• Assist in establishing and maintaining a learning environment and track student progress toward IEP goals.
• Assist in administering and scoring formal and informal tests.
• Implement behavioral management strategies as outlined by the teacher.
