Job summary

Evergreen Public Schools seeks a Special Education Paraeducator for the Home Choice Academy in Vancouver, Washington. This temporary, part-time role supports a Special Education Instructor and Building Principal, with hours 8:45 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.

on Mondays and Thursdays. Salary is determined by the district on the classified scale. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and one or more options such as passing an ETS ParaPro assessment, an associate degree, or college credits;

Qualifications

• Basic typing/keyboarding.
• Previous experience working with students in academic areas and/or special education.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
• Demonstrated ability to work with and supervise students.
• Flexibility, initiative, and cooperativeness.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Willingness to learn assistive technology and office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide special education services and supports to eligible students.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
• Provide one-to-one and group instruction as directed by the teacher and IEP.
• Assist in maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Assess student progress and collect data toward IEP goals.
• Assist with organizing instructional materials and basic classroom tasks.
• Address students' bathroom needs and assist with lifting/positioning when required.
