Job summary

Rock Terrace School at Montgomery County Public Schools seeks a paraeducator to support students with IEPs in a semi-self-contained setting. You will assist with academic and behavioral goals, attend to personal care needs, and help manage classroom activities under supervision.

The position emphasizes flexible scheduling, potential off-site activities, and specialized training within 6 months of start. Prior experience in structured educational settings is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree, required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. College coursework should include a minimum of nine credit-hours related to education such as behavior management or instructional strategies.
• One year of experience with students in structured educational settings preferred.
• If no related coursework, two to four years of experience with children/adolescents in structured settings acceptable.
• Completion of ParaPro Assessment with qualifying score of 455 or higher required.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with IEP goals and provide academic, behavioral, social, emotional and physical support.
• Attend to student personal care and medical needs; support students with aggression if needed.
• May participate in learning activities off school grounds as required by program.
• Provide instructional and classroom management support, plus related clerical tasks for teachers.
