Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• PCA certification must be completed within 30 days of start date.
• Must have 60 sem/90 qtr credits or an associate degree or higher or pass ParaEducator/ParaPro exam.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and recordkeeping skills.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
• Ability to work with technology and computers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room or center base settings.
• Manage behavior by redirecting, calming or removing a disruptive student from the classroom.
• Monitor and record student progress in academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, social skills, etc.
• Assist with physical needs such as toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting and transporting students in wheelchairs.
