Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Paraeducator in Special Education to support students with disabilities in various settings. The role involves assisting instruction, behavior management, and progress documentation in a dynamic school environment.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma, are willing to obtain PCA certification within 30 days, and can meet physical requirements. The position starts 8/31/26 and includes daily assignments aligned with 184 days/6.5 hours per day.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent and obtain Personal Care Assistant certification within 30 days of start date.
• Complete 60 semester/90 quarter credits or an associate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution or have passed the ParaEducator or ParaPro exam. Documentation will be required.
• Good communications, interpersonal and recordkeeping skills. Ability/desire to work with technology and computers. Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff. Ability to supervise students. Ability to take direction. Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds and perform duties including toileting, feeding, self-care, and other physical factors in the classroom.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room or center base settings.
• Manage behavior (redirecting, calming or removing a disruptive student from the classroom).
• Monitor and record student progress in instructional areas (academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, social skills).
