Job summary

The Foundation For Hispanic Education (TFHE) seeks a Paraprofessional to support high school students within a general education classroom setting in San Jose, CA.

You will work under a certificated teacher to provide instructional support, implement accommodations, and help students access the curriculum, with emphasis on students with learning differences and IEP goals. Bilingual Spanish preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience working with high school students
• STEAM background preferred
• Experience supporting students in special education
• Spanish language ability preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist within the general education classroom and support IEP implementation.
• Reinforce learning concepts through small group or one-on-one instruction.
• Modify classroom materials and activities to meet individual needs.
• Support students in accessing the general education curriculum.
• Prepare instructional materials and organize resources for learning.
• Assist with Behavioral Intervention Plans and behavior support strategies.
• Redirect and de-escalate student behaviors using trained techniques.
• Model and encourage appropriate social behaviors and coping strategies.
• Support students with daily living tasks as necessary.
• Supervise students during class, on school grounds, and transitions.
• Assist with adaptive equipment and assistive technology as required.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and records.
• Record student performance data and progress as directed.
