Job summary

Emerald Elementary School in Vancouver, WA, seeks a Special Education Paraeducator to assist the classroom instructor and support students with IEP goals. The role covers instruction, data collection, and behavior management within a program-backed setting.

The position reports to the Special Education Instructor/Building Principal and is part of the Special Services department. Hours vary with a 190-day schedule, including early-release and full-Wednesdays.

Qualifications

• Be at least eighteen (18) years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Must meet one or more of the following: passing ETS ParaPro/PRAXIS (455+), an Associate degree or higher, 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher, or completed Paraeducator Apprenticeship Program.

Responsibilities

• Provide special education services and supports to eligible elementary and/or secondary students.
• Provide one-to-one and group instruction as directed by the teacher.
• Assist in establishing and maintaining a learning environment and assessing student progress.
• Follow behavioral management strategies and organize instructional materials.
• Attend trainings and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
