Qualifications

• Meet Alaska paraprofessional requirements via 48 college credits, or passing scores on approved assessments.
• Basic literacy in reading, writing, and math.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Maintain confidentiality and foster trust with staff, parents, students, and public.
• Valid Alaska driver’s license and willingness to use a personal vehicle for department business.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support under the supervision of a certified special education teacher.
• Prepare or modify instructional materials including assistive technology devices.
• Collect data for IEP goals and objectives as directed by staff.
• Collaborate with colleagues and staff to implement individualized plans.
• Attend to daily student care, hygiene, and health needs as required.
• Support student transitions to buses and participate in classroom management activities.
