Job summary

The Anchorage School District is seeking a Paraprofessional Educator for the Special Education Resource ECE at Gladys Wood Elementary. The role provides instruction support in various settings under a special education teacher's direction, aligned with IEP goals and PERS retirement benefits.

Required: high school diploma or GED, Alaska paraprofessional credentials, basic reading/writing/math, and confidentiality. DOE-driven position with 6.0 hours per day and 9-month work year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or current GED enrollment.
• Paraprofessional requirements: 48 college credits, or passing ETS Paraprofessional Assessment, or WorkKeys, or Master Teacher paraprofessional training.
• Basic skills in reading, writing, and math.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with staff, parents, students, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Provides instructional services to students individually or in small groups under a special education teacher.
• Prepares or modifies instructional materials as directed.
• Collects data aligned to IEP goals as directed by staff.
• Collaborates with colleagues and staff.
• Follows instructions and teacher-directed programming.
• Implements IEP-based services, accommodations, and behavioral supports.
