Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Paraeducator / Teacher Assistant - Special Education to support students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room or center-based settings. The role involves assisting instruction, managing behavior, and monitoring progress.

Requirements include a High School Diploma, PCA certification within 30 days, and college credits or an associate degree; experience with technology and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds; start date 10/1/26.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• PCA certification must be completed within 30 days of start date.
• 60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits or an associate degree, or passed ParaEducator/ParaPro exam.
• Good communications, interpersonal and recordkeeping skills.
• Ability to work with technology and computers.

Responsibilities

• Assists in instruction of students with disabilities in various settings.
• Manage behavior by redirecting, calming or removing disruptive students.
• Monitor and record student progress in academics, daily living skills, etc.
• Assist with physical needs and mobility as required, including lifting and positioning.
