Job summary

Washoe County School District is seeking a Paraeducator Aide III to support students in a variety of special education programs. The role involves assisting teachers, providing one‑on‑one or small group support, and helping with functional life skills and behavior plans as outlined in IEPs.

Responsibilities include aiding with health and hygiene tasks, transporting and assisting students in different classrooms, and maintaining a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Education: 48 college credits or an associate degree or higher from an accredited institution.
• Need ParaPathways reading/writing score >= 332 and math >= 334, or ParaPro score >= 455.
• Must meet Highly Qualified status for Title I schools; high school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in special education classrooms with instructional activities.
• Provide one‑on‑one or small group support based on student needs and IEP goals.
• Support health, hygiene, and daily living tasks as needed (e.g., diapering, toileting, feeding).
• Move and assist students (up to 50–80 pounds) as part of classroom routines.
• Maintain safety, behavior plans, and document student progress toward goals.
