Job summary

Monroe Public Schools is seeking a Stepney Elementary Paraeducator for a 30-hour role, Monday through Friday, 9:00am-3:30pm. The position focuses on supporting the instructional program for students with special needs in regular, resource, or self-contained classrooms.

Responsibilities include assisting in implementing IEP objectives, adapting activities, and supervising students to maintain a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
• KNOWLEDGE includes basic math, English language, reading manuals and writing documents following prescribed formats.
• ABILITY includes communicating with diverse groups of children and working as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities and materials to support objectives.
• Assists in administering tests, homework, and make-up work.
• Maintains safe environment by monitoring students in various settings.
• Provides instruction under teacher supervision in individual and group activities.
• Administers first aid and responds to emergencies as directed.
