Job summary

Irving Independent School District is seeking a Special Education Aide for the LIFE program to support instructional and personal care needs of students with disabilities. You will work under the supervision of a certified teacher to implement classroom activities and assist in self-help tasks, positioning, and behavior support.

The role requires confidentiality, ability to follow directions, and strong communication and organizational skills within a nonexempt, 187-day educational schedule.

Qualifications

• Educational Aide I/paraprofessional certificate required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities and follow verbal/written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality of student records.
• Keep accurate records of students with disabilities and furnish to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
• Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus duty, playground and community.
• Assist teacher in maintaining, copying, transferring confidential folders as required.
• Assist special needs students with individual tasks including mobility and personal care.
• Assist in managing the behavior of students and crisis intervention.
• Accommodate learning needs through teacher-directed instruction and prepared materials.
• Uphold school rules and participate in staff meetings and events.
