Job summary

IRVING INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT seeks a Special Education Aide LIFE at Irving HS. This full-time, nonexempt position provides support in a functional environment for students with disabilities and helps implement classroom programs.

Under the supervision of a certified teacher and the principal, you will assist with personal care needs, behavior management, and instructional activities, while maintaining confidentiality and accurate records throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate and a high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to work well with children with disabilities and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the special education teacher to provide for the physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities.
• Assist in implementing classroom programs and personal care needs, including self-help and behavior management.
• Supervise students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus duty, playground, and community.
• Maintain confidentiality and keep accurate records of students with disabilities.
• Assist teacher with handling confidential folders and prepare materials for individual students or small groups.
• Assist with behavior management and crisis intervention.
