Job summary

Wake County Public School System seeks an Instructional Assistant-Special Education to support teachers in coordinating instructional programs for students with disabilities and implementing IEPs. The role requires flexibility, confidentiality, and teamwork in a dynamic school setting.

The incumbent will assist with behavioral strategies, classroom organization, and the use of assistive technologies to meet diverse student needs while maintaining a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six documented semester hours of coursework in early childhood education or two years of work experience in an early childhood setting for Title I schools.
• Maintain CPI certification and renewals as required.
• CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
• Experience supporting students with disabilities and IEPs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to teachers in coordinating instructional programs for students with IEPs.
• Assist with behavioral intervention plans and classroom strategies.
• Help prepare materials and organize instructional activities.
• Assist with transitions between classes and supervise student safety.
• Assist with assistive technology and AAC devices in the classroom.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information per FERPA.
