Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant-Special Education to support students with disabilities and assist teachers with IEP implementation. This role emphasizes maintaining a safe learning environment and coordinating with staff, parents, and community partners.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, familiarity with FERPA, and the ability to work Monday–Friday with occasional evenings or weekends as needed. CPI training will be provided if required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must have knowledge of FERPA and confidentiality rules.
• Experience with or willingness to train in CPI is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides support to teachers in coordinating instructional programs for special education students and IEPs.
• Assists teachers with behavior intervention plan strategies.
• Aids in planning, organization, and material preparation for lessons.
• Maintains confidentiality of student information and school records.
• Supports transitions between classes and helps with health care needs and assistive devices.
