Job summary

Frederick County Public Schools in Frederick, Maryland is seeking a Special Education Instructional Assistant for Specialized Programs. Under direction of FCPS staff, you will monitor, assist, and support students with IEPs in Expressions, Learning for Life, Pyramid, and Rock Creek programs.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 1–3 years experience with students with disabilities, and certifications such as CPR/First Aid, Crisis Prevention, and RBT training within the first year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years experience with students with moderately to severe behavioral, communicative and/or intellectual needs.
• CPR/First Aid Training within first year of hire.
• Crisis Prevention training within first year of hire.
• Registered Behavior Technician Training within first year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Supports students under the direction of FCPS staff.
• Communicates and documents student progress.
• Assists students with IEP goals and objectives and with assessments.
• Assists in student mobility and lifting needs as required.
• Maintains confidentiality of student information and participates in trainings.
