Job summary

Frederick County Public Schools is hiring Special Education Instructional Assistants for Specialized Programs (Expressions, Learning for Life, Pyramid, Rock Creek). The 11-month position (208 days/year) offers 7 hours per day with the hourly starting rate of $24.32.

Duties include assisting students with IEPs, providing personal care support, and collaborating with certified staff. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, and 1–3 years experience with students with moderate to severe

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 48 college credits or AA degree or passing exams may be required for Title One Schools.
• 1–3 years’ experience with students with behavioral, communicative or intellectual needs in school settings.
• CPR/First Aid Training (within first year).
• Crisis Prevention training (within first year).
• Registered Behavior Technician Training (within first year).
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Supports students under the direction of a Certificated FCPS staff.
• Documents and communicates student progress.
• Prepares and adapts instructional materials and assistive devices.
• Assists with mobility and personal care supports.
• Monitors student progress toward IEP goals and objectives.
• Assists with assessments scoring and recording as needed.
• Attends IEP and staff meetings as directed.
• Provides clerical support for the special education program.
