Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 48 college credits or AA degree or passing specific exams.
• 1–3 years' experience with students with moderate to severe behavioral/communication/intellectual needs.
• CPR/First Aid training (within first year).
• Crisis Prevention training (within first year).
• Registered Behavior Technician training (within first year).
• Clear, concise oral and written communication.
• Knowledge of English spelling, vocabulary and mathematics.
• Willingness to participate in professional development.
• Capable of performing essential functions with reasonable accommodations.
• Regular and predictable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Supports students under the direction of Certificated FCPS staff.
• Communicates and documents student progress.
• Sets up and adapts materials, equipment, and assistive devices.
• Facilitates student progress toward independence.
• Monitors and assists students during educational and recreational activities.
• Assists with routine personal care not requiring a nurse.
• Monitors and assists students in meeting IEP goals and objectives.
• Carries out emergency action and health care plans for designated students.
• Assists students with classroom accessibility and mobility.
• Participates in professional development trainings.
• Assists with administering, scoring, and recording assessments.
• May participate in crisis intervention techniques.
