Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant for Special Education. The role supports teachers in coordinating instructional programs and implementing IEPs, while maintaining a safe, inclusive classroom environment.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with ESSA-related qualifications and CPI certification preferred. Opportunities for growth and collaboration across elementary, middle, or high school settings are included.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Apps.
• Ability to implement instructional strategies and classroom routines.
• Ability to protect FERPA confidentiality and student privacy.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers with coordinating instructional programs for special education students.
• Assist with behavioral intervention plan strategies.
• Prepare materials and organize classroom activities per lesson plans.
• Maintain confidentiality and accurate records.
• Assist with student transitions and health care needs as required.
• Utilize assistive technology and AAC devices to support learning.
