Job summary

South San Antonio Independent School District seeks an Instructional Aide SPED BAC to support students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom. You will assist teachers with instructional programs, behavior management, and routine tasks to maintain an organized learning environment.

The role is non-exempt and requires meeting paraprofessional certification requirements, fingerprinting clearance, and collaboration with the campus staff to meet student needs.

Qualifications

• Assist in a self-contained classroom for students with disabilities.
• Follow verbal and written instructions in daily tasks.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff and families.
• Demonstrate knowledge of general office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Keep administrative records and assist with required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Support students with physical disabilities including transfers and personal care.
• Assist in behavior management and crisis situations as needed.
• Supervise students during lunch, bus, and recess duties.
