Job summary

South San Antonio ISD’s Roy Benavidez Elementary School in San Antonio, TX is seeking an Instructional Aide SPed- Life Skills to support students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom. You will assist in implementing classroom programs, self-help, behavior management, and instruction under the supervision of a certified teacher.

Responsibilities include preparing instructional materials, maintaining an orderly classroom, supervising students, aiding with transfers and personal care,

Qualifications

• Able to work with children with disabilities.
• Able to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Able to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of general office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Help teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with physical disabilities incl. transfers and positioning.
• Help manage behavior and respond to crises as needed.
• Adapt methods to individual student needs and provide small-group support.
• Supervise students during the school day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow safety protocols.
