Job summary

Cambridge Public Schools seeks an Acting Instructional Aide (7 hours per day) for November 2026 through March 2027 at Rindge Avenue Upper School. The role supports students with disabilities under the supervision of a special educator and helps implement IEP goals in the general education setting.

Candidates should have an associates degree or 48 college credits, Montessori experience preferred, and strong collaboration, communication, and flexible, patient demeanor.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or 48 college credits preferred.
• Montessori training or experience preferred.
• Good collaboration and communication skills.
• Experience with students in urban environments.
• Energetic, enthusiastic, patient and flexible.
• Ability to address physical, educational and social-emotional needs.
• Willingness to learn de-escalation and safe restraint techniques.
• Ability to work on the floor and move around the room.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instruction for students with disabilities.
• Supervise students with disabilities during non-instructional activities.
• Supervise students during transitions.
• Collaborate with general education, special education and related services staff.
• Accommodate and modify for student learning and support the general education teacher.
• Perform related duties as designated by the special educator or supervisor.
• Toileting of students may be required for paraprofessional staff.
