• Accommodate and modify for student learning in the general education setting.
• Assist with toileting as needed for paraprofessional duties.
• Other related duties as assigned.

The Opportunity :

We are seeking an Acting Instructional Aide to support instruction in an elementary classroom. Included in the role are additional duties beyond classroom support, such as recess or lunch coverage and bus duty, as well as other duties as assigned. The Instructional Aide will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support our students across educational settings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with a multidisciplinary team to enhance the educational, emotional, and behavioral development of students
• Provide support in reading/literacy, math, written language, and social-emotional behavior (with guidance)
• Collaborate with general education and special education staff
• Support formal and informal assessments as directed by teaching staff
• Accommodate and modify for student learning and support the general education teacher with the implementation of appropriate accommodations in the general education setting
• Toileting of students is a duty that an individual may be expected and required to perform as a paraprofessional employed by the Cambridge Public Schools
• Other related duties as assigned

Your Skill Set:

As the incoming Acting Instructional Aide,you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications:

• A commitment to ensuring that students have access to high-quality instructional and social-emotional support
• Above-average skills in collaboration and flexible problem-solving
• Demonstrated ability to problem solve
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university preferred
• Experience with children in an urban environment
• Assist in addressing the physical, educational, and social-emotional needs of the students
• Willingness to be trained in de-escalation and safe physical restraint techniques
• Must have the physical ability to work on the floor and move around the room to support
• students and teachers in curriculum implementation, use of manipulatives, and other instructional methods and materials

Associates degree or 48 college credits from an accredited college or university preferred. Previous Montessori training or experience preferred
