Job summary

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs in California is hiring an Instructional Aide to support students in Grades K-12 within a Special Education program. You will assist with IEP implementation, adapt instruction, and work closely with teachers to promote safety, engagement and achievement.

We seek patient, empathetic team players who can manage classroom activities, track progress and communicate effectively with families.

Qualifications

• Experience in instructional support for children; preferably in special education or behavioral health.
• Strong oral and written communication with classroom staff and families.
• Ability to think quickly and calmly in emergencies and make independent decisions.
• Knowledge of instructional technology and Microsoft Office; basic office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to create a safe, high-achieving learning environment.
• Provide individualized instruction and behavioral support on-site and in community settings.
• Monitor and guide students during lessons, applying targeted strategies for understanding.
• Track progress against timelines and communicate successes and needs to teachers.
• Manage student behavior with consistent, school-aligned disciplinary practices.
• Mentor students to develop community, vocational, leisure, academic and social skills.
• Document student behaviors and performance; provide observations and recommendations.
• Prepare and maintain behavioral reports and daily activity logs.
• Communicate proactively with students, colleagues, supervisors and families.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.
• Participate in accreditation activities and school-wide meetings.
• Respond to feedback with ongoing professional growth.
• Support additional duties to enhance student success.
